Updated Riverscape League Schedule (Feb 11, 2017)
To quote from the movie Flash Gordon, “Seemingly there is no reason for these extraordinary intergalactic upsets. This morning's unprecedented solar eclipse is no cause for alarm” basically describes the Tuesday night curling league with reference to the weather being unseasonably warm and unpredictable, which is unprecedented in our history of curling at RiverScape.
To play the full 6 games you registered for, we have to get a little creative, be a little flexible, and get a little lucky.
As of now, Tuesday night curlers have Feb. 14, Feb. 21. scheduled for Round Robin play, and if the majority of teams can make it, Feb. 23 will be the playoff game (Yes, this is a Thursday). Please recognize that we can’t curl on any other days in Feb., these are our final options. So we either curl or lose the final game on the 23rd.
What I need is for the skips or leaders of each team to check with their team mates and let me know if you CAN or CAN’T make Feb. 23rd work. We have done all that we can to this point. If you want to look at the schedule to make sure you understand how the final weeks will play out, it is posted here https://www.curltroy.org/riverscape-metropark/2017-tuesday-riverscape-info
If the skips could let me know in the next few days if your team CAN or CAN'T make Feb. 23. that would be great. Just be sure to include your team name.
On a related note, we are starting a campaign called “Build our House” that seeks to locate, renovate, or build an appropriate facility in the Miami Valley so we can curl regardless of the weather outside. If you really enjoy curling and that sounds like a great idea, please join us at our kick off event on Feb. 28th at Carillon Brewing Company, 1000 Carillon Blvd, Dayton, OH 45409.
Registration for the kick off event is required and there are more details here...https://www.curltroy.org/build-our-house-kickoff
If you can’t make the kick off event but still think you have some curling left in you, we still have 12 openings in our Springfield league at the Chiller (https://www.ntprdchiller.com) which runs from March 8 - May 10, a total of 10 weeks. You sign up as individuals but can name people to play with on your team. More details are located here https://www.curltroy.org/venues/springfield.
As you can see there are lots of opportunities to get involved with curling in the Miami Valley, so please join in the fun!
