Curl Troy is proud to announce plans to build a dedicated curling facility in Dayton, Ohio, with a target opening date of October 2027.
This exciting milestone represents the culmination of years of growth, community building, and a shared vision to establish a permanent home for the sport of curling in the Miami Valley.
The Plan
The planned facility will provide a venue dedicated exclusively to curling, creating new opportunities for athletes, families, and community members to experience the wonderful world of curling. The facility will support recreational programs, youth development initiatives, learn-to-curl experiences, leagues, bonspiels, adaptive curling programs, and community events.
We are currently exploring a number of locations within the Dayton area, but one has not been selected yet. This location will allow us to install three sheets, construct a warm room with a full bar, two restrooms, men’s & women’s changing rooms, and an ample amount of additional cold space. How We Plan To Get There
The success of this project depends on the generosity and support of our members, friends, local businesses, and the greater Dayton community. The estimated cost of acquiring and preparing a dedicated curling facility is $200,000, and fundraising will play a vital role in making this vision a reality. We are beginning our fund raising campaign with a community-wide pledge drive, inviting supporters to make a commitment toward this historic project. Over the coming months, the pledge drive will be complemented by a variety of fundraising events, raffles, sponsorship opportunities, and community activities designed to engage supporters and build momentum. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us one step closer to opening Dayton's first dedicated curling facility in October 2027. Since its founding, Curl Troy has worked to introduce and expand the sport of curling throughout the Dayton region. The construction of a dedicated facility marks a transformational step forward, allowing the organization to significantly expand programming, host regional and national events, and create a lasting community asset for generations to come.

What is Our Goal?
Curl Troy wants transition from operating in existing multi-purpose ice arenas, and expand into a facility dedicated exclusively to curling. Currently, the organization is limited in its ability to grow and offer broader programming to the community.
Curl Troy will seek to occupy a 10-12,000 Sqft building located in the Dayton area. This facility would include:
- 3 curling sheets
- Warm room with viewing area
- At least 2 bathrooms
- Men’s and Women’s changing rooms
- A full-service bar
- Onsite parking with additional street parking
- Fully ADA accessible to accommodate curlers with physical disabilities
The bar and meeting area will be an asset to the local community as a meeting space, and off season use potential is possible, including other sporting activities such as pickle ball, for example
Why are we doing this?
Curl Troy has been the go to source for curling in the Miami Valley for 16 years. In that time, we've been able to do wonderful things with our partners who have helped us bring the best winter sport in the world to residents right here in Dayton. However, there is so much more that we want to be able to offer to the community, and the only way we will be able to do that, is to open an curling exclusive facility.
By establishing a dedicated curling facility in the Dayton area, we will be able to:
- Ensure long term stability and success
- Offer significantly greater learning opportunities for residents
- Unique competitive offerings such as youth and collegiate leagues
- Stronger tournaments to bring players from around the country to Dayton
- A more flexible schedule, and a gathering place for old and new friends alike
A facility of our own will allow games and tournaments at virtually any time to help accomodate player schedules instead of the limited windows of play time we are able to offer now. LIkewise, more in depth and advanced learning events and training sessions designed for player skill advancement can only be offered with the flexibility of a dedicated facility.
What does a dedicated facility look like?
This space will most likely be a warehouse or other similiar facility that can accomodate a very long open span, and also has the power source necessary to run a chiller. In addition, there will be an off ice warm space that contains a bar for refreshments, seating for watching games and socializing, as well as restrooms and changing areas. Several locations have already been scouted and negotations have occured, though no final location has yet to be determined. We hope to remain within the greater Dayton area to best accomodate both our current members, and attract new ones.
